You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. – Psalm 139:1-4
Each of us was born with a deep longing to be known, to be understood and ultimately to be accepted. And while all of us have important people in our lives that know us deeply, there is someone who knows us infinitely more than our closest friends ever could. In Psalm 139:1-4 King David describes the depth of God’s knowledge of each one of us. Not only is He aware of our comings and goings, He is even familiar with all our thoughts!
The fact that our God has such intimate knowledge of us might be intimidating, until we remember that He loves us. So much so that He has called us His children.
Let us thank the LORD today that He cares enough about us to want to know us intimately!
